The Narita Cup, Japan's premier Australian Football event, is on again in 2005 and the AFL Japan are taking registrations from teams wanting to take on Japan in Japan. AFL Japan's International Manager Troy Beard describes the event as, 'a competition where clubs from any where in the world can match it against Japan's best'. In the past, clubs from across the Asia Pacific, as well as some suburban sides from Melbourne, have competed.
This year the Narita Cup will be held at ' The Radisson' hotel Narita Japan (10 Min from Tokyo International airport) on the weekend of the 11th and 12th June 2005.
All accommodation will be at the Radisson and all games played on the Radisson's oval. Team draw will be held on the Friday night in the sports bar of the hotel and games being played on the Saturday and Sunday.
Last year saw the All-Japan Samurai win the title, the first time the all Japanese team had beaten out the traditionally stronger expat sides to win a tournament. They then followed up on their victory with a highly successful tour of Victoria, their performance greatly impressing many who'd seen them in 2002 and appreciated the huge strides that had been taken in standard.
Teams or countries expressing interest should e-mail Japan AFL International Manager Troy Beard at firstname.lastname@example.org
Applications will close May 30th 2005.
