History:   The only ongoing Australian football presence appears to have been the Singapore Wombats (formerly Lions), established in 1993 and primarily an expat-Aussie based clubs. Local competition has often involved visiting Royal Australian Navy ships. At various times the Wombats have been one of the strongest clubs competing in the annual Asian Championships.

Outlook (2009):   The Wombats have been well established for a long time so their future looks steady, and there is a small Auskick style junior program. However, there doesn't appear to be any well established pathway likely to lead to mass participation at this stage.
