R246 Lions - new all Japanese club in Japan Top League (and won some games),

Islands v Continent curtain raiser to Power/Bulldog Exhibition match,

Fiji v Nauru International Test series,

AFL/AIS Under 18's v Titans played in France (altho AFL blew it by holding the match mid week so even Parisian footy players/followers couldn't get to see the match),

All Norwegian Trolls playing in Euro 9's Cup,

all should rate as great news at the grass roots level of footy.

I see some options as the culmination of others. The NZ AFL match and Kurt's signing  probably has much to do with Hawthorn's involvement in NZ. The 10% growth in participation is very important as an overall measure and is due to efforts of existing leagues and new incursions like China and India. IMO, Mike Pyke will be good emotionally for development but will only generate momentum if he continues to play well and recieives publicity, and that's mainly in Canada, though a  CAFL strike like the NHL strike would help a lot..
