International Broadcast Schedule: Round 1 Week 2

General News

The 2013 AFL season gets underway for the 14 other teams this week. The first match this week is on Thursday night Australian time between the Richmond and Carlton.  No matches are played in Australia on Good Friday.   The schedule can be seen below.

World and South Pacific teams to return for fourth tournament

General News

The AFL has announced the 2013 NAB Under 16 Championships draw. This year's tournament will again include a WA Northwest team as well as a Flying Boomerangs indigenous team who will play against the World and South Pacific teams.

The South Pacific and WorldXVIII teams will be back for their fourth tournament which will be held in western Sydney from July 6 to July 13.

Unity Cup on again this Sunday

General NewsThe Australian Football League will unite with the Australian Federal Police for the sixth annual Unity Cup to be held in Melbourne on March 24.

Representing the diversity of our game, Australia Post AFL multicultural ambassadors David Rodan (Fijian) and Majak Daw (Sudanese) will hold a leadership session during the multicultural carnival which will take place at JJ Holland Park in Kensington.

Global Giants memberships on offer as numbers go past 10,000

 The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS have topped 10,000 members on the eve of their first 2013 NAB Cup matches at Blacktown International Sportspark this Sunday.

As they prepare for just their second year in the AFL, the GIANTS membership now stands at 10,026, compared to 4,671 at the same time last year.

The announcement came as the club unveiled a new membership package, the Global GIANTS, for AFL fans around the world.

GIANTS Head Coach Kevin Sheedy said the club was on track to surpass its 2012 membership total of 10,241.

AFL choose Rightster to launch AFLTV streaming

The Australian Football League (AFL) today confirmed that it has selected Rightster, the online video distribution and marketing specialist, to launch live AFLTV; an innovative subscription service providing access to live and on demand AFL games to fans outside of Australia and New Zealand. This is set to be the only international service that offers access to every single AFL match live and on–demand in the coming season.

AFL is the highest-level professional competition in the sport of Australian Rules football and serves as the sport’s governing body, overseeing all aspects of the game. As the most popular sporting league in Australia, the AFL consists of 18 teams spread over five states in Australia. In a drive to distribute its online content to a wider audience and build interest in Australian Rules Football outside Australia and New Zealand, AFL called on Rightster for its expertise in maximising the reach and revenue potential of online video, as well as its remarkable track record in building larger audiences for the online video content of major content owners in the sporting industry.
