Yes, his point is solid. It is based on his far more direct connection to the game back in Ireland - he is in a position to understand what is going on back there than we are. It is a SOLID point. But that doesn't make it right or wrong. I hear your argument, Harley, and in many ways agree.

But this isn't just about Irish players seeking opportunity. This is also about the AFL having identified a new talent pool and they should not be using it as one way traffic to benefit AFL clubs and not suitably assisting that nursery. Whether they help Gaelic football directly, or just offer more to AFL Ireland as a more localised pathway, the AFL still needs to invest in grass roots fairly. This is where the debate will be - are they or are they not investing what they should to grow this market.

Some will say yes, some will say no - but that's what a good, healthy debate is all about.
