Gotta love the Mozzies but gee they are frustrating to watch at times. Absolutely no composure with ball in hand. Fast movement is great but they are also a skillful side, so if they actually slowed down occasionally and looked for their team mates and used their pace to run into space rather than bomb the ball they would be so much more dangerous. I'd expected improvement since their win at IC14 but it wasn't on show in Round 1.

Do you think better coaching would help PNG? The next games against Nauru and USA will be telling. One could make the argument that PNG had a case of nerves in the first quarter. They outscored Ireland by 8 in the rest of the match.

I think the conditions neutralized Ireland after the first quarter. Opening quarter it was all long kicks to big men taking big marks. Then the heavens opened and the game was mostly played on the ground. If PNG had converted that opening chance in the final quarter I'd imagine they would have won the game.

Yeah Ireland's big men looked like they might rip the game apart. They'd love to play on the wide open MCG in fine conditions in the GF.

Seth, I can't comment on the coaching, I know they have a well credentialed coach, I can only assume the message is ok.
