Hey Harley!
How about getting a petition going that petitions the AFL to have all the teams in the proposed Women's AFL competition starting in 2017 required to draft at least two (or three) players from outside Australia.
see Troy Thompson's opinion piece: 2016 - Time Is Right For Women's International Cup. WFN 9th Dec 2015. and my comment.

If the international community got on board with the petition it might just force the AFL to "bring along the world" from the outset for Women's footy.

I reckon the fans and players from all acroos the world would sign a petition like that. Definitely get signees from USA, Canada, Ireland, PNG, Fiji, England, NZ and probably from Denmark, Sweden, France and Croatia as well. Women are playing the game in all of those countries at present and the talent gap between the Aussie players and the best from overseas isn't nearly as wide as with the men.

Just imagine if the bulk of those draftees got games in the competition what that would do for promoting Aussie Rules internationally and also raising awareness in Australia. As good as Gold I reckon.

Mathmaticaly the potential is enormous.
We have WFN members, international Australian Football community and a huge Australian Football community all with 3 degrees of separation.
I have contacted as many organisations as briefly possible and wheels are in motion. I have not jumped ahead for numerous reasons but I will say this ;
IF this petition is successful w.r.t. numbers then it is not just a vehicle for a one-off event but access to like-minded people. I would imagine that there is a large amount of mutual sentiment such as Troy's idea to harness. This petition is directed at the SBS (avoiding the AFL) but it would be even easier to establish a new petition for the AFL. Fate is in the response.
