Asian footy kicks off for 2014

Pretty exciting stuff. There's also a lot of juniors stuff going on too. I'm not too sure about the SCAFL, but I think 12-a-side is the norm. It was 12-a-side in Vientiane as well due to ground restrictions, but they actually have close to 20 Laotian nationals playing now. The scores came out a bit late, but Thailand beat the local Laos team 70-20, and the expats 50-39. The expats beat the locals in the Laotian derby 57-25.

Thanks Shane.

The 'excitement' grows with the growth we hope :-)

Could Laos (one of the more recent footy nations) be the first in the SE Asia region to evolve from a club into a 'fully fledged' League, with as many Laotians playing there as expat Aussies? 20 locals along with the expats is almost enought to start at least a three team Metro style league I reckon.

Best of luck to all involved with "Elephant" Footy :-) and all the rest of the Asian footy community in their efforts to grow Aussie Rules.

Not quite on topic, but concerns the new season of footy across the world.

Europe AFL website lists a number of pre-season inter-club matches eg. West London Wildcats v Madrid Bears (in Madrid) and London Swans v Bordeaux Bombers (in Bordeaux) to be played on 8th March 2014). Did these matches go ahead and if so has anybody heard reports/news ( eg. scores, player numbers, success etc.) about either of  these matches?

Another preseason match scheduled is one between Madrid Bears v Nth London Lions and later in May a friendly between Scotland and Spain in Madrid.

Are these matches a sign of a welcome resurgence in Spanish Footy.?
