WESTERN Bulldogs debutant Lin Jong says he's "quietly happy" about his performance in his first match, the Bulldogs' 70-point loss to Richmond at the MCG on Sunday.

"I tried my hardest," Jong said of his 16-possession debut. "I just cracked in, which is all they wanted from me.

"I was quietly happy. It wasn't great, but it wasn't that bad."

The 19-year-old midfielder said 50 family members and friends were in the stands to watch him, but his parents were not among them because they were in Auckland on holiday.
