Just back on the womens for a minute, I had a look at the Irish squad, and sure enough, there's the Diamond Creek star player, Laura Corrigan - she can seriously play, and ironically, being an Irish girl, was a key helper with Auskick at the school.

Now I've gotta get the kids down there either Wed or Fri (assuming Ireland make the womens finals) to cheer her on!!

Howdy All,

WFN World Rankings after Game Day 2.

  1. Australia
  2. Papua New Guinea  53.89   25
  3. New Zealand  53.84   29
  4. Ireland 49.31   33
  5. Nauru  48.72   16
  6. United States  46.95   32
  7. South Africa  45.46   18
  8. Denmark  44.80   38
  9. Great Britain  43.86  40
  10. Samoa  41.85   18
  11. Germany  37.37   10
  12. Sweden  37.23   21
  13. Canada  37.14   32
  14. Japan  35.76   21
  15. Finland 29.02   12

Great Britain's win over Canada had GB climb above Samoa and get that little bit closer to Denmark. The loss by Canada had it fall to13th place, and Sweden has slipped to 12th Place with its loss to Denmark.

Provisional Places look like this

  • Croatia  40.61   4
  • Tonga  40.35   6
  • Israel/Palestine  37.87   7
  • Timor Leste  37.75   2
  • Fiji  37.12   2
  • Iceland  35.64   4
  • France  35.43   3
  • China  33.70   7
  • India  28.33   7
  • Spain  28.00   6 Dormant

Last number is number of games played.

Only movement here was Tonga slipping a little in rating points.

Only the one blow out game but because the rating gap was greater than 10.00 no advantage to USA and no disadvantage to Japan. Does suggest USA strength tho'.  Women's results were pretty close suggesting not too big a difference in ability between all the teams. Augurs well for women's footy internationally.

IC Bonus applied to all these matches, Brett.
