Oslo Crows kick off 2011 season with wins over Göteborg and Karlstad

Hi, I umpired the Finland-Norway match last year. The Finnish team was completely non-Australian, but Norway had about 8-10 Aussies, 4 Norwegians and Finland 'loaned' them a few players, so it doesn't qualify for the rankings.

Positive signs for the future though

Thanks Craig, for your information on the Finland v Norway game. Eases my conscious on not including the game in the ranks. We look forward to the match for Norway that we can include. Three quarters of the players being nationals is the criteria that we will accept, more if possible. Maybe the proposed Norway v Iceland will see Norway enter the ranks?????

Best of luck to both teams.

Cam

 Hi Cam,

I emailed the guys at the Oslo Crows about the Iceland match, they said they're working on recruiting more locals, but currently only around about a quarter to a half of their players are Norwegians.  The game in Iceland is more or less an Oslo Crows club match.  The guys in Tromsø have a good number of local players apparently, but they haven't played any matches against outside opposition yet, simply because it's so far from any other cities with teams.  Oslo are heading up there for a match this year, plus they're hoping that Tromsø can come down for a game as well.

They're aiming to have enough local content by 2014 to look at attending the IC in that year, so it might not be too far off that they can play a test match with a full squad of Norwegians.

They're also keen to make their Euro Cup debut in Belfast this year, although again the Oslo guys undertake quite a bit of travelling in their regular season, with a couple of trips across to Sweden and the Iceland tour match, so they're not sure if they'll be able to get enough players willing to make another tour at the end of the year.
