I agree it shows GB's depth which is quite impressive, and it will give the coaches a good look at some of the new talent, and thanks Kurt your explanation shows why the clubs would be keen to hold onto their players.

But I'm also curious like Aaron as to why the AFL London finals weren't scheduled differently or re-scheduled - if all the nations of Europe are going to support the European Championships then such scheduling issues need to be avoided. I'm sure there are reasons like field availability etc, but certainly Denmark would have a good argument to be ranked above GB now - as the saying goes, you can only beat the opposition that you play on the day. Note that GB isn't making any excuses as far as I know, we're just discussing the reality of why their team is clearly not drawn from the same pool as in the past.

And I note that it was a pretty comfortable win by the Danes as well. Sometimes the home team under-performs because so much effort goes into organising things. It looks like Denmark have managed to avoid that problem, perhaps another good sign that they have the critical mass to organise such a tournament (with Sweden) and still have the resources to focus on the footy.

Having both DK and Swe host the event meant a great deal for the organisation. The players have still helped out a lot on press releases, planning, sourcing and were important in the match day preparations and cleaning up. Only a good effort from both players and the local club personel has helped the teams succeed so far.
