Description: | 2013 AFL Grand Final at the MCG - Hawthorn vs Fremantle Longest Wait to Play in a Premiership – Matthew Pavlich, Fremantle. Should Fremantle win this week, Matthew Pavlich will have played in a premiership in his 291st senior game – the third longest-wait in VFL/AFL history. The longest waits to play in a premiership are Shane Crawford (305 games for Hawthorn), Paul Williams (294 games for Collingwood and the Sydney Swans), Marcus Ashcroft (268 games for the Brisbane Bears / Brisbane Lions), Greg Wells (256 games for Melbourne and Carlton) and Alastair Lynch (249 games for Fitzroy and the Brisbane Lions). Premiership with Two clubs – Shaun Burgoyne, Hawthorn. Should Hawthorn win this week, Shaun Burgoyne would become the 29th player in the game’s history to play in a premiership with two separate clubs, the most recent examples in the last decade being Darren Jolly, Stuart Dew, Cameron Mooney, Jason Ball, Byron Pickett, Damien Hardwick, Gavin Wanganeen, Martin Pike and Blake Caracella. Brothers Opposed in a Grand Final – Brad Hill / Stephen Hill. Should both Brad and Stephen play this week, they will be only the second set of brothers in VFL / AFL history to be on opposite teams in a Grand Final, after Alan and Vic Belcher played for Essendon and South Melbourne respectively in the 1912 Grand Final. Coached Two Clubs to Grand Finals – Ross Lyon. Ross will become the 14th man in VFL / AFL history to coach two clubs into Grand Finals, following on from Jack Worrall (Carlton/Essendon), Norman Clark (Carlton/Richmond), Vic Belcher (S Melbourne/Fitzroy), Dan Minogue (Richmond/Carlton), Checker Hughes (Richmond/Melbourne), Percy Bentley (Richmond/Carlton), Ron Barassi (Carlton/North Melbourne), Tom Hafey (Richmond/Collingwood), Allan Jeans (St Kilda/Hawthorn), David Parkin (Hawthorn/Carlton), Malcolm Blight (Geelong/Adelaide Crows), Leigh Matthews (Collingwood/Brisbane Lions) and Michael Malthouse (West Coast/Collingwood). |
