Less than a year ago the B M Bulls had not played their first competitive match. They were about a week away from the 2014 AFL Middle East Pre-Season Cup and were a complete unknown quality to everyone. History says that the Bulls went on to record enough wins on the day to reach the Grand Final against the Dubai Dragons.

Back then it was the Dragons team which prevailed, but the signs were clear from their first competitive day that the Bulls would not take long to develop into a competitive unit.

Today that view was vindicated when the BM Bulls reversed last year’s result and have defeated the Dubai Dragons in the 2015 AFL Middle East Pre-Season Cup.

Whilst it is only a pre-season fixture and it is a long time to go until the business end of the season, the victory is remarkable. Not only have the Bulls pulled off an incredible feat, landing their first premiership of any description, less that a year after their debut game, but they have sent a clear message. The Bulls are here and they mean business.

The event is somewhat of a pointer. Last year’s pre-season final saw the Dragons and Bulls fight out a close game but the Dragons won. By season’s end both teams had again made it to a grand final, the BIG one, and the result was the same – a Dragons win. It might also be a sign of things to come this year.

Time will tell as to whether the Bulls are on line for an historic AFL Middle East premiership for 2015/16. But they have got their campaign off to a wonderful start.

Full details and scores will be available as soon as possible and updated on this article.
