AFL U/16s South Pacific cup - Monday match

Oceania

Updates from Game 5 of the South Pacific Cup in Coffs Harbour courtesy of AFL South Pacific.
What another brilliant afternoon of Pacific football in Coffs Harbour! The rain was heavy and the toughness was even heavier. Oceania took on PNG in a fierce battle in the wet! PNG came away with the win but had to work very hard for it! The final score doesn’t pay justice to how competitive the game was. Katah Siwee again provided some highlights with another 3 hangers to his collection for the week!

Summary : The Coca Cola AFL PNG Binatangs skill level and football knowledge got them over the line against a tough AFL Oceania side. The Oceania side were tremendous today and can certainly hold their heads very high after their performance! PNG were slick and fast in the wet and moved the ball in slippery conditions with ease to take the points. Oceania battle very hard all day and certainly made PNG really earn their win.
A big thankyou to some AFL greats who were on hand to assist with the teams. Brisbane Lions triple premiership hero Chris Johnson again ran the bench for PNG with the assistance of Sydney Swans Premiership Star Michael O’Loughlin. Passing on some of his knowledge to the Oceania coaching team was one of the AFL’s most famous names, legendary player and coach, The Great Kevin Sheedy.
It was a very exciting, tough match and everyone around the ground watching would have been very impressed with the talent and toughness of the Pacific Players.

Tuesdays contest sees PNG and NZ clash at 4pm. This is the last game of the South Pacific Cup before a combined South Pacific Side takes on a combined Indigenous Boomerangs on Wednesday at 8am as well as a South Pacific Development team take on the All Nations team at the same time.
