Lady Sharks Sink Their Teeth Into Haggis Cup

The Haggis cup saw the Copper Sharks seeking revenge over the Diesel Sharks for a heavy defeat in Glasgow a week earlier. Leeroy Brown was traded for Zoe Rowe for this exhibition match in Edinburgh.

The Copper Sharks dominated early proceedings, outscoring the Diesel Sharks 20-2 in the opening quarter, which Saw Sue Noble score her first goal for the Copper Sharks.

 

 

 The following quarters were much closer affairs but the Copper Sharks’ strong 1st half performance continued in the 2nd quarter, extending their lead by a further 5 points in a low scoring period dominated by the midfield. The Copper Sharks were 4.4.28 0.5.5 in the lead as the half time siren sounded. 

 
The 3rd quarter was again a tight affair which saw the Diesel Sharks score their first goal through Leeroy Brown. The Copper Sharks more than matched the Diesel Sharks scoring with 2 goals and 3 behinds compared to Diesel Sharks 1 goal and 2 behinds to take a 30 point lead into the final quarter.
 
The Diesel Sharks dominated the final quarter with a goal from captain Stacey Hughes and a resolute defensive display which saw the Copper Sharks fail to score a goal. The Diesel Sharks were just starting to get a grip of the game but the Copper Sharks lead was unassailable and they ran out 46-22 winners.
