The Atlanta Kookaburras kick off their 2012 season with the DUFFA Tournament this Memorial Day Weekend. Part of the Australian/New Zealand Downunder Fest being staged at the Polo Fields in Cumming Georgia, the DUFFA Tournament will bring together a select group of Aussie Football teams from around the country, plus the American-only US Revolution Football team.

Teams from Baton Rouge, Charleston, Baltimore-Washington and Nashville will play a round-robin competition on Saturday and Sunday with the Atlanta Kookaburras as the host team, with a “final” between the top two teams. There will also be a match pitting the USA Revolution against a combined All-Australian team following the final match on Sunday.
The Kookas, coming off a very successful season in 2011 where they reached the Division 3 final at the US Nationals, will be looking to improve on that record this year. After the DUFFA matches, the Kookaburrass will be heading to Nashville and Charleston in June and Tampa in July for road games. Then they’ll host North Carolina in August before finishing off their regular season away to Baton Rouge and at home against the New York Magpies in September.

The 2012 US Nationals will be held in Mason Ohio in October and the Kookas plan on being a team to be reckoned with.
