Warrington Wolves train with Sydney Swans

Europe

The English rugby league team Warrington Wolves this week continued the long tradition of football teams cross-training with other codes in the off season when they joined the Sydney Swans in Sydney for a skill and fitness session.

Canadian Mike Pyke can be seen in the background of the Fox Sports video below and looks like he might rightly be as comfortable with the Rugby League players as with the Swans or his former code of Rugby Union.

And speaking of Mike Pyke, he featured today on the Swan's website and is said to be trying to develop himself into a ruckman/forward “That new ruck/forward role is really taking shape in the AFL, and a lot of people are saying there is not going to be two ruckmen anymore, so I need to add that extra forward string to the bow," he said.

“I think we saw last year the return of the big pack marks, so as a big guy, you have got to have good hands and be able to take grabs so that’s probably number one on the priority list."

Strange.  I can't see what benefit there is to Fox Sports by limiting which countries can view their content, other than reducing the bandwidth they have to support.  It just reduces their profile and means the ads they insert get viewed less.  I can't see why there would be any copyright issue in their content, unless they use copyright music so then maybe their licensing fee would in theory be higher?  Odd.  I guess we'll keep on posting and it's just unfortunate for those that can't see it.

I have to add, that if there's a video-clip attatched/embed in this story, I can't see it here in Tasmania.

I'd be surprised if it was blocked to Tassie.  My guess would be that you don't have the right plugins in your browser to see it.

I don't know if it's blocked or not, or even if I've not got the appropriate plugins. But I can view most attached 'YouTube' type clips or at least see a placeholder, but not in this post.
