New team in France: Cergy-Pontoise Coyotes !

Europe

A new footy club has been born in the town of Cergy-Pontoise in France. Located in the French department of Val d'Oise, about thirty miles north west of Paris, Les Coyotes de Cergy-Pontoise are awaiting you for training every Sunday at 10 am in Parc des Larris de Cergy.

Composed of a small group (for now), they hope the team will evolve, compete and reinforce the next season of the French league, which for its 2011-12 season will include 7 clubs: Paris, Strasbourg, Bordeaux, Perpignan, Toulouse, Aix-Marseille and Montpellier.

Cergy-Pontoise had a team briefly back in 2005-2006. They even played one game against Strasbourg in Strasbourg (a loss). Nice to see a new and seemingly better organised team start up there again.

Correct, the Cergy Cats and nearby Senlis Razorbacks both existed about 5 years ago.  Don't know if there are any members in common between the former club and the new one?

Terrific news of another club start-up, that's about six in the last couple of months. Two clubs in USA, another attempt in Leeds UK, and a possible two more in a rebirth of footy in Belgium and now this one in France.

Wonder if the success and high profile the French team achieved at the IC11 has had an impact on this start up(or rebirth)(I do recall mention made of the Cergy Cats in my trawling of International Footy websites).

I wish them all the best of luck in their endeavours.

Hello mates,

I'm Cyril Talon the french national president. I'm living in Cergy since one year and I have just created the new team the last few weeks.

In fact there hasn't team before. The Cergy "cats" was created in 2006 only to organise the Euro cup in France, but it didn't work.

So it's the 8th team in France. We are "in progress", we are 9 players, they are very motivated and good. We'll play our first game this sunday 4th december against the Paris Cockerels team B grade.

Go Coyotes !

Regards.

G'day Cyril.

Congratulations on getting another team up and running and the best of luck with your endeavours.

Are you in a position to confirm that the French League plays at 14 or 16-a-side and the approximate number of registered players for the 2011 season, and whether there are any junior competitions running in France.

Your new team being so close to Paris we would hope see a number of games against them in 2012.

Thanks

Cam

There are 2 leagues but at 9 a side :

The First league with Paris / Bordeaux / Toulouse / Strasbourg and a developpment league with Perpignan, Montpellier and Marseille.

We have tried to play the first competition à 16 or 18 a side with Paris / Bordeaux and Toulouse but it's too soon and we haven't enough players in each club.

Yes, Cergy-Pontoise it's only at 40 minutes to Paris (without trafic !).
