American footy made an appearance on Channel 9's Almost Footy Legends segment on The Footy Show last week. The clip (seen below) sent in by Bill Robert of Stateside Footy sees the goal post "obliterated" with Bill's commentary mimicked by the Billy Brownless. The segment can be seen from the 1 minute 36 second mark.

I thought this video deserved a bit more of a cheer than what it got. Always hard to gauge the audience reaction - often it depends on how the presenter delivers it.

Is The Footy Show one of the programs where the audience follows cues? It was a strange reaction. Even if they all genuinely thought the guy getting knocked out in SA deserved it, they still would have laughed or something at the American one. Anyways, at least it made it up there and the next generation of footy fans now knows there's footy in the UK and America

Normally prompted, but for that segment they pretty much make noise to vote for the winner based on the mood and how much they liked it. But I just reckon the audience is very susceptible there to how the host pumps it up. The week before David Meli's mark got a big cheer when to be honest I thought it was good but not as big as some they have on there.

Well, since the rules say you have to live in Australia to win, maybe there was something to what you say, Tobietta. But, hey, whatever, I got the vote of confidence from the reigning Coleman Medalist, and cool folks like you have my back. It's all good, and American Footy is a little more on the radar now, which is my main mission in doing the show. Cheers!
