There are currently three AYAD positions available for Australian football development roles, in Indonesia, Vanuatu and Tonga. The youth ambassador positions are paid jobs open to Australians to assist in overseas development.

All are for 12 months and applications close May 27th.  More details at www.ayad.com.au/assignments and search for "Australian football".

The following is an extract from the Vanuatu description:

Description of the Host Organisation: AFL Vanuatu is responsible for the promotion and delivery of Australian Football (AFL) in Vanuatu. There has been initial success and interest with AFL Auskick and social football programs. AFL Vanuatu is now looking to expand their programs by delivering the AFL Auskick program in additional villages, expanding into the youth age groups and a formalised senior completion.

Assignment Summary: The vision of AFL is to use the sport as a platform for promoting healthy lifestyles throughout the Pacific. Currently there are programs in Tonga, Samoa, Nauru, Papua New Guinea and Fiji, centred on developing initiatives for schools (aligned local curriculum). In each case a specialised program for vulnerable groups is tailored. In these programs there is a particular focus on youth, people with special needs and women. Programs will be developed for mainstream schools (in direct collaboration with the Ministry of Education), special schools and targeted community groups. This assignment is designed to support the design and implementation of programs and the development of the necessary resources and local knowledge capacity to manage them into the long term.
