North America This weekend see the MAAFL Grand Final being played in Nashville, Tennessee. Alex Benjamin provides the following preview.

This week is the biggest week in close to 9 years for the Nashville Kangaroos as they are just one win away from winning the MAAFL (Mid-American Australian Football League) Premiership. What is separating them is the 3-time defending champion Chicago United. Whoever wins this game...wins the Premiership. The Kangaroos are on fire, winning their last 4 games by a combined score of 447-105, an outstanding percentage of 425.71 during that streak, after trouncing 2 weeks ago Ohio Valley by 153-7. The team is 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the MAAFL and currently tied for first in the MAAFL with Chicago.

The Chicago United team has been a long hiatus between games, their last being 2 months ago on June 26th as they beat Milwaukee by a 86-22 score in Milwaukee. They are 3-2 for the year and 2-0 in the MAAFL, putting them tied for 1st in the MAAFL with the Kangaroos. This is their last regular season game before the Nationals and a win would give them an unprecedented 4th straight (and 5th overall) MAAFL Premiership if they beat the Kangaroos.

The last time these two teams met was May 30, 2009 in Chicago in a hard fought battle royal that had injuries on both sides of the field and Chicago escaping 11.7 (73) to 7.17 (59). However, the last time the teams met in Nashville was April 26, 2008 at Elmington Field, in which the Kangaroos won 14.4 (88) to 6.5 (41). The overall record has Chicago leading the series 8-7, but they are 2-5 at Nashville, their last win in the MAAFL coming on May 6, 2006, a 10.8 (68) to 7.10 (52) at Elmington Field.

The game time and place has been moved. The game is being held @ Heartland Park in Donelson in the shadow of the Opry Mills Mall and Gaylord Opryland Resort. The time of the game has been moved from 2 pm to 3:30 pm on Saturday.
