OAFL elects New Board and Initiates Junior Development Programs

Toronto, Ontario: The Ontario Australian Rules Football League “The OAFL” held its Annual General Meeting on November 22nd where it elected a new President and Board of Directors. The election of this new Board comes at a time where the OAFL is experiencing rapid growth and has begun to initiate junior development programs across Southern Ontario.

Martin Walter, the League’s newly elected President stated Sunday that he was very excited to take up the leadership and direction of the League especially in-light of where the league is and the way it is developing. “The OAFL is now in its 21st year and its success can only be traced to the dedication and tireless efforts of past league executives. I am delighted to have a chance to take the league to the next step” said Mr. Walter on Sunday.

The New Board of Directors elected at the leagues 2009 AGM includes:

President: Mr. Martin Walter
Vice President: Mr. Mark Peterson
Secretary/Registrar: Mr. Bill Conway
Treasurer: Mr. Dennis Gibson
Director: Mr. Travis McKenzie

The Junior Development Program is one of numerous new initiatives that the new Board and the OAFL is focusing on. Others programs will include player recruitment, league expansion, marketing and promotion.

Over the 2009/2010 Winter season the League has rented a number of sporting bubbles (domes put over outdoor fields to stop the snow) in Toronto that are to facilitate the League’s Junior Program where "AussieX" will be conducting free junior football clinics to the public.
