Wickliffe-Lake Bolac's French Connection

Europe A story in the Country Footy section of the Weekly Times highlights a couple of French lads making an impact for Wickliffe-Lake Bolac in the Mininera & District League, country Victoria, coincidentally only about 100 km from Warrnambool, site of the country round of the 2008 International Cup.

The article is dated May 20, by Roslyn Lanigan. One hopes someone will let these lads know of the French Australian Football League getting more organised this year.

Remy Dufour, 23, and Paul Coisnon, 21, arrived in Australia last year. They are living and working on sheep and cropping farms in preparation for careers in agriculture when they return to France (apparently in 2 weeks time).

Again, these lads have a background of Rugby and Soccer. And have adapted pretty well, so well in fact...

Paul was promoted to the seniors after just 2 matches, and kicked 3 of the sides 6 goals in the round 5 loss to SMW Rovers.

Recruiters back in France, keep an eye out for their return home.

Editor (Brett): Actually we have been chatting with French representatives in the last few days about any assistance in getting them to the 2011 International Cup, and another one writes for us. So I'm sure they'll see this article. Hopefully one of our Victorian based writers will help them get in touch with Remy and Paul via the club.
