The Croatian footy team arrived in Vienna on Saturday June 10th, happy to be able to play its first game ever. The team was participating in the Schnitzel Cup, alongside the Czech Lions and hosts Austria (the Vienna Kangaroos - recently rechristened from the Vienna Dingos) in the first tournament of their fledgling tri-nations series. As the Austrian and Czech squads had a few years' experience in playing footy, Croatia came in as underdogs, but won both their matches to run out champions of the day.

In the first match of the day, the Czechs defeated Austria. Croatian stalwart Kolja Koracak tells that the Croatians left Zagreb at 5 a.m and arrived at the ground 40 minutes before their first game, while the Czechs were midway through beating Austria.

Croatia's first match was against the Czechs, Croatia taking an early lead and never looking back. In the third match of the day the Croats met Austria - with the host side performing far better than in their first encounter to be only 2 points down at halftime. Again however, Croatia pulled away to win comfortably.

Scores
Czech Republic 12.9.81 d Austria 5.1.31
Croatia 5.2.32 d Czech Republic 2.3.15
Croatia 10.3.63 d Austria 5.2.32

The next outing for the teams will be the Croatian Open in Zagreb on July 22nd.
