As reported recently, the Western Australian Football Commission and AFL club Fremantle are interested in working with the AFL on the quickly growing South African footy program. It seems current league leaders West Coast aren't to be outdone by their local rivals, and are also discussing a training program there, no doubt looking at the excellent facilities at Potchefstroom.

Digby Beacham, in the Sunday Times, suggests the Eagles would like to have a week long camp in Africa, though there isn't much information to imply that they would develop the game there. This would be a key difference, given that the Freo Dockers indicated coaching development and possibly an apprentice scheme could be on the table. While the report says the AFL would need to choose between the clubs, it also says the AFL would want them to play an exhibition match against each other, though the sides aren't keen.
