Spain withdraw from Qualifying final

International Cup 2005

A quick note to say that Spain have withdrawn from Qualifying Final A, which was scheduled for 10am on Thursday 11th August 2005. They are a very new Aussie Rules nation and came to the Cup with a small squad. Having suffered several injuries they were reduced to 15 players on the field (instead of 18) in their last match, so the forfeit to Canada is no surprise. Although the Northwind will enjoy the rest, no doubt they had been looking forward to chalking up their first win in more fulfilling circumstances.

Agreed! Although the time off may help rest their bodies, there's no doubt they would have preferred to earn the win under normal circumstances. Perhaps given all the unfortunate luck they have had, this is the TSN turning point for them and their luck is about to change. Bring home that 7th place finish guys! Enjoy the remainder of what has to be one of the most incredible and memorable experiences for all of you.

Bad luck Spain with all the injuries and the game withdrawal. It would have been the best chance for "The Bulls" for a win in this series.

Great! It's fantastic! Antonio "cracking" Encinar has been among the best spaniards players twice. Everybody at Peña Aencinar is absolutely happy. In fact, we are going to do a big party at INTEMAC, with Antonio's toast and a lot of Sidra (sider) El Gaitero. Antonio, we love you!!!!
