The AFL have again amended the draw for the International Cup 2005 following the withdrawal of Denmark and at very late notice Nauru (both mainly due to financial problems). The Pool system has been eliminated, and all sides play 4 games, after which the top 4 sides play off in semi-finals for the right to play in the MCG Grand Final. The lower 6 teams play off amongst themselves. As disappointng as this is for the countries that were unable to attend, it does ensure a more exciting competition, with the semi-finals guaranteed to be top matches.

I'm a spanish player and think that the changes are positive for us cause the group A seems a bit easier. But i'm disagree with the cross over because the team that finish 6th in group A won't play more games. I suggest a 30 minutes match between the two teams in the 5th and the looser of them play a 30 minutes game against the 6th of A group to determinate the last position of the championship.

Yes, it would be good to see 6th in Pool A get a chance to have another match. Although by the end of the tournament all teams will be pretty exhausted. I guess the draw will stay the way it is.
Great to have a player post here. Thanks Juanjo. And great that Spain are coming - it should really add some extra flair to the tournament. Good luck!

My 15 year old son will be a Boundary Umpire at couple of the International Cup matches and received his roster last night. Comparing the times of the games has has been allocated and the draw posted here, it appears there have again been some minor changes to the start times of some games. Anyone coming might like to check the final times. Good luck to all the participants.

Thanks Wazza.
We've made amendments to the timetable as we've become aware of them - I've checked against the schedule now available from the AFL website and they appear to agree. But people probably should bear in mind that start times could vary a small amount.
