The Florida Redbacks are looking forward to the beginnings of a bright season, hosting the Baltimore-Washington Eagles this weekend in the first match of the Eastern AFL season and announcing the formation of a third Florida metro league side in the southern city of Fort Lauderdale.

The Redbacks' home town of Tampa has until now been the only area in the state with an Aussie Rules presence, the Tampa Devils and Sarasota Sharks playing a metro league with the Redbacks squad chosen from players in these squads.

News just in suggests the Devils and Sharks will have at least one new opponent in the near future, with a new side springing up in Fort Lauderdale, just outside Miami and the first side on Florida's Atlantic coast.

Official announcements extend only as far as the Fort Lauderdale camp, however there have also been rumours of a new side to appear in Orlando. World Footy News is hopeful that these rumours can prove true in the near future!
