North America The Wild West Shootout, 9-a-side Aussie Rules tournament to be held in Las Vegas in April now has eight teams signed up, ensuring with a viable tournament.

As previously reported, up to 16 spots were available, but in its first year that ambitious quota was always unlikely to be filled. The event's cause has no doubt been helped by the cancellation of the annual Arizona Metro Footy "World Invitational", and eight sides is more than respectable, with registrations still open for a short while longer. The teams that have entered so far are: the Mojave Greens (US Army side from California), Tuscon Javelinas and Chandler Outlaws (both from the Arizona AFL), Denver Bulldogs (reigning US Nationals champions), Orange County Bombers (from California), and two San Diego sides, the Lions and the Cougars (presumably the well known Lions have split in two for the tournament). The series will also feature a team of free agents - players with no club attending (or from clubs with too many players).
