For international leagues, getting exposure in their own country is not their only short term goal. They also seek coverage in Australia, as that can have many benefits, such as greater awareness in Australia of international footy, which will ultimately lead to the International Cup becoming a more prestigious event. Recently Canadian Aussie Rules was featured on Australian Channel 9's Today show.

The program is doing a week-long series of shows on Canadian cities, and for their Toronto morning, reporter Nick McCallum had a run with the Broadview Hawks, one of the teams in the Ontario AFL (but who have struggled this season). Read more about it on the AFL Canada website and watch the story at Channel 9 (warning: quite a large file).
