Asia The Japan Samurai, an all-Japanese side, have proven their recent wins in Asia were no fluke with a sound thrashing of a Howlong Football Club selection on Australian soil last Sunday, 15th August.

Following up from their impressive wins over the Indonesian Bintangs and Box Hill North Demons (from the lower grades of Victoria's amateur association) in the Tokyo based Foster's Narita Cup, the Samurai have gone on to defeat traditional Asian powerhouse the Singapore Wombats in Singapore and now a team representing the Howlong Football Club at Howlong (near Albury, in the NSW Riverina region). Howlong is a member of the Hume country football league. A preview of the match can be found on the Bordermail website.

Samurai Centre Half Forward, Tsuyoshi Kase bagged 5 majors in Japan's total of 16-16-112 against Howlong's 5-2-32

The Samurai moved to Melbourne early this week and take on Box Hill North on Tuesday night and Vietnam Melbourne on Wednesday night before heading down to Ocean Grove for their 3rd clash in as many days. Friday will be a well deserved rest day before the Samurai meet a New Zealand South Island selection in an international curtain raiser prior to the Carlton v Melbourne fixture at Optus Oval.
